GRANTS AND FOUNDATIONS

Several organizations provide grants to people with disabilities who meet certain criteria. Grants are a good option for people who cannot afford an out-of-pocket purchase or financing and when insurance coverage is denied.

Rare Care

The RareCare program helps patients obtain life-saving or life-sustaining medication they could not otherwise afford. The program also provides financial assistance with insurance premiums and co-pays, diagnostic testing assistance, and travel assistance for clinical trials or consultation with disease specialists.

The Empowerment Fund

The Empowerment Fund provides resources and inspiration to those who suffer a life-changing injury. Life-changing injuries are injuries such as spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, amputation, or other mobility-limiting injuries that occurred in an athlete's lifetime.

Triumph Foundation
The Triumph Foundation assists people with spinal cord injuries to get necessary equipment, supplies, and services. 

Triumph’s Keep Moving Forward (KMF) Grant is for people with spinal cord injury that have limited financial capability to help them triumph over obstacles they face and enhance their quality of life.

Triumph’s KMF Grants helps individuals get necessary Adaptive Equipment for activities of daily living, make Home Modifications for wheelchair accessibility, enable the Return to Work reintegrating back into the community, and maintain Therapeutic Activities for health and wellness.

The Road 2 Recovery Foundation

The Road 2 Recovery Foundation is a 501 (C) (3) non-profit organization founded to help AMA-licensed professional motocross/supercross and action sports athletes with financial assistance if they sustain a debilitating injury and provide motivational, emotional, and spiritual support to these individuals and their families.

Bryon Riesch Paralysis Foundation

The Bryon Riesch Paralysis Foundation provides charitable grants up to $7,500 to eligible individuals with spinal cord injuries or a spinal cord related disorder. Requests from Wisconsin residents are given priority but are not limited to the state.

Harry Gregg Foundation

The Harry Allen Gregg Foundation was established to provide support grants to help the people of New Hampshire with disabilities and their families cover the cost of needed products and services.

Opportunities for grant support include home modifications, educational services, adaptive equipment, therapeutic recreation, medical bills and technology. The Harry Allen Gregg Foundation strives to help improve a person’s quality of life by providing funds that will enhance their independence.

Challenged Athletes Fund (CAF)

CAF’s flagship grant program aims to remove the barriers that exist between adaptive athletes and their pursuit of sport and fitness. Individuals worldwide with permanent physical disabilities are eligible to apply for the CAF grant.

Be Perfect

Be Perfect provides scholarships to individuals living with paralysis and varying neurological disorders for their medical needs.

IM ABLE Foundation

IM ABLE Grants are awarded to individuals with physical, cognitive, and/or behavioral challenges residing in the Mid-Atlantic region, providing adaptive sports gear and group fitness programs.

Semper Fi & Americas Fund

The Semper Fi & Americas Fund provides immediate financial assistance and lifetime support to critically wounded, ill, and injured service members of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces and military families.

Will2Walk

Will2Walk offers financial assistance to those with traumatic spinal cord injuries in need of equipment or services to keep them active, fit and independent. Two programs are available: the Emergency Fund and Scholarship Program.

Ryan Shazier Fund for Spinal Rehabilitation

 The Ryan Shazier Fund for Spinal Rehabilitation is the brainchild of Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker, Ryan Shazier, whose life-altering spinal cord injury opened his eyes to a vulnerable community and the systemic barriers SCI patients face in their road to recovery. It offers a stipend-based support systems for individuals with spinal cord injuries who reside in Western PA, eastern Ohio and Northern WV.

MS Focus: The Multiple Sclerosis Foundation

 MS Focus offers numerous grants to support people diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.

JT Townsend Foundation

JT Townsend Foundation provides grants to people living with disabilities living in Northeast Florida.

Go Hawkeye

The grant program is open to adaptive individuals and organizations in the United States and consists of adaptive sports equipment and adaptive sports experience grants.

Wheelchairs 4 Kids

Wheelchairs 4 Kids is a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of children with physical disabilities by providing wheelchairs, home and vehicle modifications as well as other assistive equipment at no charge to the families through our Let’s Roll Program. They also have an inclusion program called Wheely Fun Days. They take the kids out for fun adventures such as going to the Bucs Training Camp, indoor skydiving, zip lining and water skiing using adaptive equipment.

Chive Charities

Chive Charities provides critical grants for individuals with life-altering or life-threatening needs. From therapy equipment like adaptive tricycles and robotic walkers to service dogs, wheelchair-accessible vans, and a wide range of mobility items, Chive Charities fills the gaps where insurance and other resources cannot.
