Uber's Sued Again: Discriminating Against Disabled Riders

It never ceases to surprise me when I see an Uber lawsuit makes its way into the headlines.  Any regular user of this transportation app has more than likely had an unpleasant experience; weather it be last minute cancellations, astronomical rate surges, or unreliable driver availability. On a larger scale Uber has stepped on the toes of its employees, paying out millions annually in disputes; left city dweller's fates in the hands of the unwelcomed use of electric scooters; and now find themselves slapped with a lawsuit from the Justice Department for overcharging people living with disabilities.

The DOJ comments "Uber's policies and practices of charging wait time fees based on disability have harmed many passengers and potential passengers with disabilities throughout the country. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, alleges that Uber violated Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which prohibits discrimination by private transportation companies."
