Mobility Trust Group Receives Trailblazer Award

RICHMOND, Va. The National Disability Finance Coalition (NDFC) selected Mobility Trust Group to receive Honorable Mention for the inaugural Trailblazer Award. Mobility Trust was honored with special recognition at the annual Opportunity Finance Network (OFN) Conference in New York City on October 28th, 2022.

The NDFC Board of Directors chose Mobility Trust for their exemplary work providing financial services to people with disabilities and prioritizing accessibility in their diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies.

“In 2015, we created the NDFC to highlight the exemplary efforts by Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) around the country to address the needs of people with disabilities and their families.” Said Charles D. Hammerman, NDFC Board Chair, “By 2017, NDFC successfully advocated to have disabilities included in the annual CDFI Fund Award program. Five years later, with the support of a private donor, we launched the Trailblazer Award to further highlight the work of CDFIs which embody the NDFC mission.”

“We are excited to receive recognition for the first-ever Trailblazer Award from the NDFC Board of Directors” adds Craig Baker, Mobility Trust President, “It is a tribute to my team for their hard work and commitment to Mobility Trust’s mission. Each year we aim to expand our reach, serving more people with physical disabilities nationwide, and this award affirms we are on the right path.”

The NDFC works to bridge the CDFI industry and the disability community, to ensure that CDFIs can respond effectively to address the needs of individuals with disabilities, and to offer technical assistance and support to CDFIs developing financing products and services. The NDFC is the only national organization in the United States promoting the socially impactful work of CDFIs serving communities with disabilities.
